To the Parents and Guardians of
8th Grade Students, Class of 2012:
Wednesday, May 30th, your student and all chaperones MUST be at the Upper Campus by 5:30am with their duffel or soft bag (preferred). Reminder to make sure names are on the bag and items. (We expect to return back to Upper Campus on Friday, June 1, around 3:30pm. Mr. Newsom will send out a Connect Ed phone message when we dock back at Long Beach on Friday.)
THE BUS WILL LEAVE WITHOUT YOU -- YOU MUST GET THERE BY 5:30AM ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 30.
Bring a sack lunch for the boat ride over, or money to buy a snack on board (very limited)
No cell phones or electronics allowed at the camp (strict policy for students) and for chaperones? Your cell phones won't work there.
The Campus By the Sea sweatshirts (very popular in years past) will be on sale for $30 each, the sweat pants for $25 at the Camp Store. Also, reminder that the Camp Store will be open for snacks. NO SNACKS ALLOWED IN CABINS (due to animals and insects).
As students are NOT allowed to bring their cell phones, the EMERGENCY number at the Camp is 310-510-0015.
Any other communication should be through the Middle School Office or by calling Long Beach Marine Institute, the facilitators, at 562-431-7156
. There is also a pay phone located near the camp store.
There is a Camping List pdf below with suggested items. Especially useful are water shoes (rocky beach) and flashlights (no electricity in the cabins). Students will receive their Catalina Island Journals and pencils when we get there (thanks to Denise Norden and Tara Milton!).
Thank you! Any last minute questions, call (or text with your name in the text) Gwen Hourihan, Trip Coordinator at 626-376-5569
(reminder: bad reception in Sierra Madre).
Before May 29th:
Please contact Gwen Hourihan at firstname.lastname@example.org or 626-376-5569 with any questions or concerns. The earlier the better.
For forms and payments:
Please deliver to the Middle School Office as soon as possible. Forms are available to download below.
